Achilles Tendinitis

Your Achilles tendon connects the calf muscles to the heel. When this tendon becomes inflamed, it is known as Achilles tendinitis. Common causes include an increase in exercise and bone spurs. Treatment includes rest, restriction of movement, and physical therapy. Surgery is only considered if pain continues after six months of treatment.

Ankle Instability

Ankle instability is marked by repeated ankle turning, feeling unstable or wobbly when walking, and chronic discomfort, swelling, and tenderness. It is often caused when the ankle does not heal properly after a sprain. This greatly affects balance and increases risk of future injury. Non-surgical treatment options include bracing and physical therapy.

Athletes Foot

Tinea pedis, commonly known as athlete’s foot, is a fungal infection typically found between the toes and on the sole of the foot. It is highly contagious and thrives in warm, moist conditions. Public showers, locker rooms, socks, and shoes are common breeding grounds for the fungi that cause athlete’s foot.

Bunions

A bunion is a bone-like bump that forms at the base joint of your big toe. It forms when your big toe is repeatedly pushed inward toward the other toes. Due to their propensity to wear pointy-toed shoes, women are more prone to bunions than men are. We provide both non-surgical treatment (i.e. conservative care) and surgical bunion removal.

Diabetic Foot Care

Due to its effect on your circulatory system, diabetes causes a variety of secondary issues. Reduced blood flow to your feet impacts your body’s ability to heal cuts and blisters on the foot. At the same time, nerve damage may cause numbness and tingling in the feet, so you may not feel those cuts and blisters.

Flat Feet

Flat feet have little to no arch, causing the patient’s foot to tilt inward. Most patients experience few issues due to flat feet. However, some report pain or discomfort. Conservative treatment includes special shoes and orthotics to help realign the bones and joints of the foot. Severe cases may require surgery.

Foot Drop

Foot drop is a neurological disorder that makes it difficult for the patient to lift their toes while walking. Common conditions that cause foot drop include muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and herniated disc. Foot drop treatment options include braces, electrical nerve stimulation, and physical therapy.

Foot Fractures

There are four main types of foot fracture. Displaced fractures occur when the bone breaks into two pieces and becomes misaligned. In non-displaced fractures, the bone maintains alignment. With open fractures, the end of the bone breaks through the skin, while a closed fracture does not puncture the skin.

Ankle Sprain

Ankle sprains occur when the ligaments around the ankle are overstretched or torn, leading to pain, swelling, and instability. Treatment includes rest, bracing, physical therapy, and, if necessary, surgical repair to restore full function.

Bone Spurs

Bone spurs are bony growths that can develop on the heel or other areas of the foot, often causing pain and irritation. Treatment options include custom orthotics, physical therapy, and in severe cases, surgical removal to restore comfort and mobility.

Corns & Calluses

Corns & Calluses Corns and calluses develop as thickened areas of skin caused by repeated friction or pressure on the feet. Treatment includes trimming, padding, and customized footwear recommendations to relieve discomfort and prevent recurrence.

Fungal Toenails

Fungal toenails can cause discoloration, thickening, and brittleness of the nails, often leading to discomfort and embarrassment. Effective treatments include topical or oral antifungal medications and advanced laser therapies to restore healthy nails.

Gout

Gout is a type of arthritis that causes sudden, severe pain and swelling, typically in the big toe. It’s triggered by a buildup of uric acid crystals, and treatment focuses on managing pain, reducing inflammation, and preventing future flare-ups.

Hallux Limitus & Hallux Rigidus

These conditions limit movement in the big toe joint, often due to arthritis or bone spurs. Treatment includes custom orthotics, anti-inflammatory medications, and in advanced cases, surgery to restore mobility and relieve pain.

Hammer Toes

Hammertoes are deformities where the toe bends downward at the middle joint, causing discomfort and difficulty wearing shoes. Treatment options range from custom orthotics to surgical correction in severe cases.

Heel Pain

In-Grown Toenail

Ingrown toenails occur when the nail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, redness, and potential infection. Treatments include professional nail trimming, removal of the ingrown portion, and preventive care for lasting relief.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain, caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a band of tissue connecting the heel to the toes. Treatment options include stretching exercises, custom orthotics, and advanced therapies to reduce pain and promote healing.
