HyProCure Procedure
To treat foot pain, hyperpronation, and align the bones between the heel and ankle.
What is HyProCure?
HyProCure is a specialized implant procedure that addresses foot misalignment caused by excessive inward rolling of the ankle (overpronation). By inserting a small titanium stent into the sinus tarsi—a naturally occurring space in the foot—HyProCure stabilizes the ankle and restores proper alignment. This simple, outpatient procedure can significantly reduce pain and improve mobility.
Conditions Treated with HyProCure
HyProCure is ideal for patients who experience:
- Flat Feet: A lack of natural arch support.
- Overpronation: Excessive inward rolling of the ankle and foot.
- Chronic Pain: Discomfort in the feet, knees, hips, or lower back caused by misalignment.
- Failed Orthotics: Persistent pain despite using custom orthotics or other conservative treatments.
Our team will evaluate your condition to determine if HyProCure is the right solution for your needs.
Benefits of HyProCure
HyProCure offers numerous advantages, including:
- Minimally Invasive: Performed through a small incision, with a short recovery period.
- Immediate Stability: Restores proper foot alignment to reduce strain on joints and muscles.
- Long-Term Relief: A permanent solution for chronic pain and misalignment issues.
- Improved Mobility: Enhances walking, running, and overall function.
- Avoidance of Major Surgery: An effective alternative to more invasive procedures.
How Is HyProCure Performed?
The HyProCure procedure takes around 20 minutes to complete and only requires a small incision – less than 2 cm. With no drilling or cutting, patients only need a local anesthesia, although some prefer IV sedation.
After making the incision, your podiatric surgeon repositions the ankle bone. This opens a small space known as the sinus tarsi (which should always be open). The surgeon implants the medical grade titanium stent, which supports and stabilizes the ankle bone.
Podiatric surgeons across the United States have performed the HyProCure procedure thousands of time since it received FDA approval in 2004. It has been proven effective for both adults and children, offering permanent correction for 95 percent of patients.
What to Expect After HyProCure
Total recovery time for HyProCure takes around six to eight weeks, although most are walking in about half that time. You should be back to wearing your regular shoes in a single week.
Once healing is complete, you’ll be able to participate in all the activities you enjoyed before your procedure. In fact, you’ll likely have greater mobility thanks to reduced pain and improved function. Very rarely, the ligaments fail to adjust to the new positioning. Typically, this resolves during the healing period. However, if it does not, the stent can be removed.
To manage discomfort and swelling, your doctor may recommend anti-inflammatory medication.
